Lisa Hempe is a senior expert with a focus on democracy promotion, participation, migration and politics. She is currently coordinating the BMFSFJ-funded “Action Program Municipalities – Women in Politics” initiative. This nationwide program aims to work with selected regions to sustainably increase the share of women in local government and at executive levels, and to initiate structural changes that will have a positive impact on the acceptance and attractiveness of local politics as a whole.
Previously, she was involved in the political projects of the Helene Weber College – the nationwide, cross-party platform for promoting more women in (local) politics. Here she was responsible for monitoring the 2021 federal election to determine the number of women, men, and non-binary people among the candidates for the Bundestag in the constituencies and on the state (Land) lists of the parties. From 2017 to 2020, she worked in the vocational orientation program “Open Doors – Open Minds” for women with migration backgrounds, particularly refugees from crisis areas.
Before studying Business Administration with a focus on sustainable business and marketing at the Berlin School of Economics and Law, she trained as an event manager at WealthCap Real Estate Management GmbH. During her studies, she worked for MexWorld Consulting in Mexico City and the Hopf strategy agency in Berlin, among others. There she gained practical experience in project management in the areas of international management consulting and communication. From 2018 to 2020, she completed a part-time Master’s degree in Cultural Relations and Migration at Sigmund Freud University in Berlin.
