What is inclusive leadership?

Inclusive leaders have a huge impact on organizational culture. They are deeply convinced of the importance of diverse teams, voice their thoughts in clear and appropriate language, and they know the right strategy and how to put this in place. Our offer aims at facilitating inclusive leadership in your organization. We at EAF Berlin believe that everyone has the potential to be an inclusive leader.

Inclusive leaders make everyone feel welcome and appreciated, which in turn leads to more innovation, more team citizenship behavior, and more feelings of both belongingness and uniqueness in employees. (Catalyst)

Why do we need inclusive leadership?

A key factor for the success of diversity measures is having the chance to participate. New employees should also be given the opportunity to influence the organization and initiate change. If the new is to function just like the old, then creative potential is lost in the “onboarding” process. Lip service is paid to vaguely worded diversity goals and talented individuals leave the organization after a short time. For diverse and transdisciplinary teams, this means that they cannot use their strengths profitably due to entrenched patterns and ingrained routines.

What does an inclusive leadership approach look like?

An inclusive leadership approach brings together the potentials and strengths of individuals in a goal-oriented way – whether in the form of “idea teams” or simply through an organizational culture sensitive to issues of diversity. Respectful and appreciative communication with one another, recognition of ideas and tolerance of faults can foster everyone’s sense of belonging and responsibility, while at the same time helping to ensure your organization’s future viability.
