Call for Donations – Stand with Ukrainian Women

We all see the images from Ukraine every day, witnessing the destruction caused by the war and Russia's campaign of terror. With the harsh winter ahead for the people of Ukraine, we are once again raising funds for humanitarian aid.

For over a year, EAF Berlin has been working in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung on the project "Together for Democracy" - #StandwithUkrainianWomen engaging with women active in local politics and civil society from Eastern Ukraine. We work closely with four project partners and their organizations, as well as other women in leadership positions in politics and administration from the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Odesa regions. We hear urgent, harrowing eyewitness accounts and constant appeals not to "grow weary" of the war and to show solidarity now more than ever. We are therefore once again asking for monetary donations that our partners can use directly on the ground.

In coordination with our project partners, we are supporting cities and municipalities in southeastern Ukraine, including Mykolaiv, by equipping shelters—so-called "warmth points"—for the population during gas, electricity, and water outages, and by providing for internally displaced persons, including those from Kherson. Donations are used for items such as beds, mattresses, blankets, and all kinds of hygiene products for women, children, and the elderly. Most of these products can be purchased within Ukraine. For other items, such as medicine and household appliances (including changing tables, thermoses, etc.), we cooperate with the organization IsraAid, which reliably purchases relief supplies in Romania and transports them into Ukraine.

It is about material aid, but just as much about psychological support, showing our Ukrainian partners: We are not leaving you alone.

Spring 2022 fundraising campaign was a success

We are now collecting donations for Ukraine for the second time. Many of you already contributed in the spring of this year. On behalf of our partners, we would like to thank you very much. With the approximately 37,000 euros raised, the women's organization Smarta was able to distribute hygiene products for women and girls as well as children's toys in Kramatorsk, for example. At the Dnipro State University, where one of our project partners teaches, beds and mattresses were purchased for internally displaced persons housed there. In Odesa, the women's organization Diya helped improve basic medical care for children in the embattled city of Mykolaiv. You can find a current update here.
