The EAF Berlin study “From Elected to Threatened: Experiences of Female Members of the German Bundestag Regarding Violence against Women in Politics ” surveyed current and former members of the Bundestag and highlights how hate, incitement, and gender-based violence influence political work. It becomes clear that these attacks do not merely target individual female politicians; they endanger political participation and, consequently, democratic representation. The study was produced as part of the European project “3R—Recognize, Resist, Rise Up: Tackling Gender-Based Violence against Women in Politics.”

Die Studie liefert erstmals repräsentative, branchenübergreifende Daten zu Ausmaß, Erscheinungsformen und Folgen von Sexismus am Arbeitsplatz in Deutschland. Methodisch basiert sie auf einem Mixed-Methods-Ansatz, der quantitative Befragungsdaten mit qualitativen Tagebuchaufzeichnungen kombiniert. Durchgeführt wurde die Untersuchung von der EAF Berlin im Rahmen des vom Bundesministerium für Bildung, Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend geförderten Projekts Bündnis „Gemeinsam gegen Sexismus“. Berücksichtigt wurden dabei neben Frauen und Männern ausdrücklich auch trans, inter und nicht-binäre Personen. Auf Grundlage der Studienergebnisse wurden konkrete Handlungsempfehlungen abgeleitet, wie staatliche Verantwortung, rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen und betriebliche Praxis stärker miteinander verzahnt werden können.

EAF Berlin and the Württemberg State Sports Association (WLSB) are publishing the results of a multi-method study on diversity in volunteer-led sports in Baden-Württemberg, thereby contributing to research on civic engagement. Key findings indicate that current volunteer boards and officials in grassroots sports often fail to represent certain social groups, and that sexism, racism, and other forms of discrimination must be dismantled.

41% of women in Germany have experienced sexual harassment involving physical contact at some point in their lives, and 4% have experienced a sexual assault in the last five years. Gender-based violence is therefore not a marginal phenomenon, but a widespread social reality. Against this backdrop, EAF Berlin has published the practical guide "Communicating competently about gender-based violence" as part of the "Together against sexism" alliance.

Across Europe and beyond, women in public life are increasingly facing targeted attacks, with elected officials and women in leadership positions being particularly affected. Whether it concerns legislation, protection mechanisms, or data collection, a comparative report gathers and analyzes the status quo in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Hungary, and Ireland.

In this anthology, female officeholders and committed women share their experiences. The volume was edited by Tannaz Falaknaz, Stefanie Lohaus, and Cécile Weidhofer from EAF Berlin.

With this planner, the EAF Berlin, funded by the Federal Ministry for Women, offers a systematic and transferable approach for the first time to make local structures more family-friendly and diverse. This makes something possible that was previously missing: systematically adopting the successful experiences of other municipalities and adapting them to one's own conditions.

Politicians are increasingly becoming targets of attacks. Women in politics are particularly affected—often facing sexist or discriminatory motives. The consequences are severe: some withdraw from political engagement altogether. A new analysis by EAF Berlin describes the forms and extent of gender-based violence against female politicians and derives concrete recommendations for political stakeholders. For the first time, the analysis captures the status quo of various forms of violence against female politicians and identifies areas for action for parliaments and parties, as well as legal gaps and support mechanisms for those affected. It was developed as part of the EU-funded project "3R – Recognize, Resist, Rise Up."
