EAF Berlin and Volkswagen AG show what is possible in these areas.

Flexible or mobile working, working from home, digital tools – the transformation of the working world is in full swing. But what about jobs in industrial manufacturing? You often hear: that’s just not possible there!

However, there is also potential for more flexible working in production, in terms of more self-determined working hours. Making smart use of this potential in and for the transformation of the working world benefits both the company and its employees.

The "Promoting Flexibility and Diversity" project, which EAF Berlin carried out together with VW AG in Kassel and Wolfsburg, uses practical models to impressively demonstrate what is possible, including promoting a better work-life balance. In a participatory approach, the models were developed directly with employees, involving human resources management, managers, and works councils.

At a specialist conference marking the end of the project on June 28, 2021, the results will be presented to and discussed with a select group. The conference will take place digitally from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to practical reports "from the shop floor," there will be a high-profile panel discussion with representatives from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and IG Metall, as well as working groups to discuss specific issues in greater depth. The project was funded under the ESF directive "Securing skilled workers – promoting equality" .
