MAYORESS

Across Europe, only 15 percent of mayors are female. The aim of the project was to increase the representation of women in local leadership positions/mayoral offices.

Together with experts and practitioners, this project aimed to support female candidates and mayors, establish sustainable networks and promote cross-border exchange. It also drew up recommendations for political actors, such as political parties, associations and legislators, to put in place measures and policies at the national and European level. Another goal was to raise public awareness of the need to promote gender equality in local leadership.
