Why haven't we achieved equality yet?

Gender equality in politics is stagnating. Too few women enter politics or participate in decision-making processes. Deterrents include communication styles, digital harassment, sexism, cutthroat mentalities, opaque appointment processes, intersectional discrimination, and the lack of compatibility between holding office and caregiving responsibilities.

In this anthology, female officeholders and committed women analyze these problems and share their experiences. The authors formulate a political agenda for greater equality and show how things can be done differently.

The authors:

Tannaz Falaknaz is an expert, trainer, and moderator for diversity and women in politics. Her focus areas include party-internal strategies for recruiting women for local politics.

Stefanie Lohaus is a member of the executive board, Head of Communications at EAF Berlin, and project lead for the "Together Against Sexism" alliance. Stefanie Lohaus conducts workshops and gives lectures on topics such as work-life balance, women in pop culture and media, right-wing populism, feminism, and demographic change. In early 2008, she was one of the four founders of Missy Magazine, which she led as managing editor for ten years and remains a co-publisher of today. She is a founding member of the column editorial team 10nach8 on Zeit Online and has published articles on Zeit Online, Vice.com, FAZ, and FAS. Her book "Stärker als Wut – Wie wir feministisch wurden und warum es nicht reicht" was published by Suhrkamp Verlag in October 2023.

Cécile Weidhofer serves as Director, overseeing projects focused on implementing gender equality in politics and administration. Her work centers on cross-party collaboration with (future) full-time and volunteer local politicians, as well as with municipalities and political parties. Cécile Weidhofer regularly conducts workshops and gives lectures on aspects of gender justice in politics. She is a jury member for the "Gender Award – Municipality with a Future" and co-author of the publication "Entering Politics with Children – Best Practices for Balancing Family, Career, and Local Political Office".
