"We need a feminist federal government"

The second discussion regarding the Berlin Declaration took place today with Ricarda Lang, Deputy Federal Chair and spokesperson for women's policy for Alliance 90/The Greens.

To advance equality in all areas of society, various initiatives, associations, organizations, and cross-party parliamentarians joined forces in 2011, 2016, and 2017 to form the Berlin Declaration.

Through campaigns, discussions with top political leaders, open letters, and press releases, the Berlin Declaration draws attention to the lack of equality between women and men.

In the discussion between the initiators of the Berlin Declaration and Ricarda Lang of Alliance 90/The Greens, she emphasized the importance of feminist policy:

"Gender justice must be on the agenda as a cross-cutting issue in all areas of policy. To break down patriarchal structures, we must address wage equality, the (unfortunately still daily) violence against women, and equal representation of women in committees. For this, we need a feminist federal government."

In the coming weeks before the federal election on September 26, there will be further discussions with the SPD, CDU, FDP, and CSU to debate ways to advance the equality of women and men in all areas of society with the various parties. A discussion with Janine Wissler, lead candidate for The Left party, has already taken place.

The demands of the coalition, which includes the EAF Berlin, are:

1. Parity in all areas of society
2. Equal pay and equal conditions in the workplace
3. Equality as a guiding principle in all policy areas
4. A life free from violence for all women
