The "KoKI – AI in Municipalities" project, initiated by Co:Lab, has published a report on the opportunities that digitalization offers for local governments. AI expert Hanna Völkle represented EAF Berlin and co-authored the chapter on ethics.

How can municipalities leverage the opportunities of digitalization at the local level? What added value do algorithmic systems provide? Where do we already encounter artificial intelligence today, and how do we want to implement it in our communities to ensure it is future-proof?

The "KoKI – AI in Municipalities" project has published answers and ideas in an online report. The project was initiated by Co:Lab, an association that functions as a think tank and collaboration platform for a digitalized society. Senior Expert Hanna Völkle has been involved on behalf of EAF Berlin since 2019 and co-authored the chapter on ethics, with a particular focus on transparency, participation, and equal opportunities.

In addition to the print publication , the online version offers the opportunity for a deep dive, allowing readers to explore specific topics in greater virtual detail.

"I enjoyed working on this initiative, and the result is a valuable overview for anyone interested in the potential of digital transformation in municipalities," Völkle says, summarizing the work of KoKI. Digitalization, local (political) participation, and equal opportunity can only be sustainable if they are conceived and shaped together.
