Femtec continues – a strong program enters its next phase

25 years ago, EAF Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin co-founded Femtec GmbH with the goal of supporting women in STEM. We were pioneers at the time, working with partner organizations to build a unique public-private partnership and develop the highly successful Careerbuilding program. Today, more than 1,700 Femtec graduates hold responsible positions in business, science, and society, and are themselves committed to promoting more women in STEM through CURIA (formerly Femtec.Alumnae). We are now handing Femtec over to the Kompetenzzentrum Technik-Diversity-Chancengleichheit e. V.

The partner companies, partner universities, and the Kompetenzzentrum Technik-Diversity-Chancengleichheit e. V. (kompetenzz) are building on this strong foundation together. They are explicitly committed to the established quality and standards of Femtec and will continue this long-standing, vital work with great appreciation while developing it for the future. The core content remains the same: supporting female students in STEM subjects, maintaining close, practice-oriented cooperation with leading companies and universities, and providing targeted preparation for diverse career paths in science, business, and society.

At the same time, this new phase offers the opportunity to introduce digital and hybrid formats, ensuring that Femtec remains a robust, future-ready network for STEM students, universities, companies, and alumnae.

What happens next?

The next Femtec program cycle begins on July 21, 2026, with a hybrid kick-off meeting. The first school is scheduled to take place in Berlin from September 22 to 23, 2026. The application phase at the participating universities begins this June. Interested students can find information and apply through their respective universities.
