EAF Berlin included in list of excellent algorithm experts

They are among the leading female voices in the discourse on the societal impact of algorithms and artificial intelligence. The EAF colleagues work on the societal issues surrounding digitalization and were included in the list in this capacity as experts in algorithmic ethics.
Both internationally and in Germany, there are many women from diverse backgrounds who are engaged with the societal impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithms. To increase the proportion of female voices in the discourse on these topics, the "Ethics of Algorithms" project, funded by the Bertelsmann Stiftung, regularly publishes a list of German-speaking experts in algorithms and algorithmic ethics.
The EAF experts Hanna Völkle and Lisa Hanstein were included in the list for their work at the intersection of diversity, gender equality, and digital technologies in the workplace. For example, they support the pilot project KITE – AI Thinktank for Female Entrepreneurship, which aims to use artificial intelligence to make the discrimination experiences of female founders visible and thereby empower women in the startup process.
The list of experts was first published on International Women's Day in 2019 by Carla Hustedt, Director of the "Digitalized Society" division at Stiftung Mercator. She pointed out that events on digitalization topics are often dominated by male speakers. In this spirit, the publication of the expert list helps to provide space for more diverse perspectives on the societal impact of algorithmic systems and artificial intelligence.
