Sexism surveys in organizations: Developing data-driven measures against gender-based discrimination
Sexism survey: Building a knowledge base for workplace anti-sexism initiatives
EAF Berlin’s sexism surveys help organizations identify risks, experiences, and areas for action—thoroughly and sensitively.

Sexism in the workplace affects a large portion of the workforce—particularly women and genderqueer individuals, but also men. It manifests in inappropriate comments and jokes, stereotypes, prejudices, and gender-based disadvantage, as well as sexual harassment and assault. According to a recent study by the "Together Against Sexism" alliance, 63% of professionals have experienced such incidents. This shows that workplace sexism often remains invisible. Furthermore, sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination are covered by the General Act on Equal Treatment (AGG). Employers are obligated to protect their employees and provide appropriate points of contact. An anonymous survey within the organization can help capture the status quo and bring to light issues that may have been previously unknown but are burdensome for employees. It creates a reliable foundation for identifying needs and developing effective measures. We support you with our professional expertise—from conceptualization, data protection, and analysis to the development of concrete actions.
Your Benefits

Methodologically and substantively sound analysis of workplace sexism
Our surveys are based on scientifically validated items (questions and statements in the questionnaire). The methodologically sound collection of data on sexism experiences in the workplace allows for a professional assessment of the status quo and provides the basis for tailored measures.

Anonymous and GDPR-compliant implementation
Especially with sensitive topics like sexism and sexual harassment, anonymous participation is essential to ensure that respondents face no professional repercussions for their answers. As an external partner, EAF Berlin also guarantees GDPR-compliant implementation.

Sensitive and target-group-specific execution
With extensive experience in the field of sexism and discrimination, as well as in working with diverse target groups—including women, caregivers, queer individuals, people with disabilities, and people with a migration background—we ensure a sensitive and tailored implementation.
We support you with your survey, either through individual steps or throughout the entire process: from defining the research questions to developing potential measures!
Potential topics and questions for your sexism survey:
- Experienced sexism and sexual harassment (personal experiences)
- Observed incidents (bystander perspective)
- Corporate culture & psychological climate
- Perpetrators of sexism (colleagues, supervisors, clients, etc.)
- Power dynamics/hierarchy effects
- Awareness of support channels
- Trust in complaint structures
- Company response to incidents
- Personal data (to categorize the impact on different groups)
Measures
Based on the data collected, appropriate measures can be derived.
These could include, for example:
- Management training
- Defining a code of conduct
- Improving reporting channels
- Awareness and active bystander campaigns
- Adapting HR processes
This turns data into concrete change: moving toward clear structures, greater safety for employees, and an organizational culture that effectively counters sexism.
