Diversity & Leadership update

The new Diversity Barometer from the Robert Bosch Stiftung confirms what has long been felt: acceptance of diversity is declining. At the same time, the 2024 Leipzig Authoritarianism Study shows that one in four people in Germany agrees with anti-feminist statements. Anti-feminism acts as a bridge ideology, tapping into traditional gender roles and providing a connection for conservative, right-wing extremist, and authoritarian milieus. By devaluing women's rights and queer lived realities, social progress is being systematically delegitimized. These developments call into question the hard-won progress of gender equality—and they endanger not only individuals, but also organizations. Studies show that gender justice is a decisive factor for innovation. Especially in economically challenging times, companies rely on diverse perspectives coming together, knowledge being shared, and creative solutions being developed.

At the same time, anti-feminist tendencies are affecting everyday professional life: queer employees often hide parts of their identity for fear of negative consequences. This insecurity hinders not only individual development but also team dynamics, creativity, and, consequently, business success. It is therefore all the more important for companies to take a clear stand. In doing so, they protect not only their employees but also their future viability. Those who promote diversity, gender justice, and respectful interaction send a clear signal—both internally and externally.
