Dear donors,

On behalf of our partners in Ukraine, we would like to thank you very much for your generous donations. We were truly touched by the response to our appeal, which allowed us to transfer 7,000 euros before Christmas. As announced, the funds were used to support children, people in need of care, and women affected by violence in eastern and southern Ukraine. In the meantime, an additional 2,300 euros have been received. This is fantastic!

Natalya Deliyeva, our contact at the women's organization Diya in Odesa, recently sent us a detailed report and some photos. She writes:

„During these difficult times — with ongoing attacks, blackouts, and humanitarian crises — your help is more than financial aid. It is a message of solidarity and human warmth that gives strength to endure. Together, we truly make the world better.“

The donations transferred so far have been used as follows:

  • 1,000 euros were passed on to the women's shelter in Dobroslav/Odesa.
  • 2,000 euros went to a nursing home in Mykolaiv, which, among other things, enabled the purchase of three wheelchairs.
  • 3,000 euros were used in the Odesa region, partly for New Year's gifts and sensors for children with diabetes, and partly for New Year's gifts for children whose parents have fallen at the front or are being held as prisoners of war.
  • Another 1,000 euros were sent to the village of Rohan near Kharkiv, which is close to the front line, to bring joy to children there with New Year's gifts as well. We have long-standing contacts with the local social services director in Rohan, and it is precisely these small villages that are in need of support.

Natalya Deliyeva will be coming to Berlin on February 23rd/24th for the major annual Ukraine solidarity event "Café Kyiv," which will allow us to speak with her in person about how to use the remaining donations.

As you all know, the fourth winter of the war poses enormous challenges for the population. As a civil society, we cannot provide air defense or ammunition, but we can show our solidarity, just as Natalya described.

Thank you once again for your support. Best regards,

Helga Lukoschat
