Confident advocacy for diversity and democracy in the workplace

Argumentation training – fostering dialogue and taking a confident stand

Argumentation training for employees and managers: responding confidently to discriminatory remarks, strengthening diversity, and fostering respectful discussions.

The workplace brings together people with diverse perspectives, experiences, and attitudes. In a social climate increasingly shaped by right-wing populism and anti-feminism, this is also becoming apparent within organizations. Employees and managers may be confronted with discriminatory statements, right-wing populist comments, or the disparagement of diversity, equality, and democratic values. Our argumentation training supports employees and managers in responding confidently in such situations, maintaining respectful dialogue, and clearly upholding democratic values. This helps organizations strengthen their culture of debate and speak-up, promote constructive conflict resolution, and create greater security when dealing with derogatory or dehumanizing remarks.

Your Benefits

Recognizing and contextualizing anti-democratic statements

Participants explore typical argumentation patterns, oversimplifications, and derogatory statements. They learn to better recognize and contextualize problematic narratives and handle them with greater confidence – even in situations that are not immediately clear-cut. This also involves addressing the question of where the boundaries lie.

Practicing responses and gaining confidence in argumentation

Using concrete case studies and exercises, employees and managers practice how to respond calmly, clearly, and professionally in difficult situations.

Customized focus areas for your organization

We tailor the training to your specific needs – for example, addressing racism in the workplace, sexism and anti-feminism, or dealing with resistance to diversity and equality. This helps your organization strengthen a culture of respectful debate and a professional approach to diversity in everyday work life.

Workplaces are not just places of collaboration; they are also spaces where different perspectives, values, and experiences collide. This diversity is a strength, but it also brings new challenges. In a social climate where right-wing populist, anti-feminist, and anti-democratic positions are becoming more visible, this is also reflected in professional life.

Many organizations today experience situations such as:

  • derogatory comments within the team
  • discriminatory remarks directed at colleagues
  • right-wing populist or anti-democratic statements or comments during meetings
  • hate speech and fake news
  • uncertainty in dealing with conflicts surrounding diversity, equality, and democratic values

If discriminatory or anti-democratic statements go unchallenged, it does not only affect individual employees. It can strain team collaboration, put pressure on managers, and, in the long term, negatively impact the working environment and employer attractiveness.

Taking a stand and fostering dialogue

Our argumentation and dialogue training starts right here.
We support employees and managers in identifying and contextualizing discriminatory and anti-democratic statements ("barroom rhetoric") in the workplace, enabling them to argue confidently, engage in respectful discussion, and set clear boundaries against discrimination and anti-democratic behavior.

This is often where the challenge lies: many people want to speak up, but in the moment, they are often surprised, uncertain, or unable to find the right words. The training provides a safe space to specifically address these situations and test out different courses of action.

In our training, we teach the fundamentals of discriminatory, right-wing populist, and anti-feminist argumentation patterns, working with concrete examples from everyday organizational life. Participants explore typical conversation scenarios and practice how to remain capable of acting in such moments—clear in their stance, respectful in tone, and confident in their arguments.

This allows employees and managers to gradually gain more confidence in remaining capable of acting during challenging conversations, demonstrating their stance, and standing up for democratic values, diversity, and equality.

Depending on your organization's needs, we set thematic priorities, such as racism in the workplace, sexism and anti-feminism, anti-democratic statements, or resistance to diversity and equality initiatives.

In this way, the training does more than just strengthen the argumentation and action skills of employees and managers. It also supports organizations in making their values visible in everyday work, taking a stand against discrimination and anti-democratic behavior, and fostering a culture that promotes diversity, respect, and democratic collaboration.
