Mayoress! Women in Local Leadership

Recommendations for promoting women's careers in local politics at the local, national, and European levels.

How can women's participation in political office, particularly in local leadership positions, be increased across the EU? What can we learn from other EU countries? We provide answers to these questions in our guide, "Mayoress! Women in Local Leadership: Results and Recommendations from an EU Project." Based on our exchanges with practitioners and experts, we have compiled numerous recommendations for promoting women's careers in local politics at the local, national, and European levels. To this end, we address cross-border factors that hinder women's political participation, outline key areas for action, and present best-practice examples from various countries that are worth emulating. The final section of the guide puts forward proposals for discussion at the EU level.

From Elected to Threatened

The EAF Berlin study “From Elected to Threatened: Experiences of Female Members of the German Bundestag Regarding Violence against Women in Politics ” surveyed current and former members of the Bundestag and highlights how hate, incitement, and gender-based violence influence political work. It becomes clear that these attacks do not merely target individual female politicians; they endanger political participation and, consequently, democratic representation. The study was produced as part of the European project “3R—Recognize, Resist, Rise Up: Tackling Gender-Based Violence against Women in Politics.”

Sexismus am Arbeitsplatz

Die Studie liefert erstmals repräsentative, branchenübergreifende Daten zu Ausmaß, Erscheinungsformen und Folgen von Sexismus am Arbeitsplatz in Deutschland. Methodisch basiert sie auf einem Mixed-Methods-Ansatz, der quantitative Befragungsdaten mit qualitativen Tagebuchaufzeichnungen kombiniert. Durchgeführt wurde die Untersuchung von der EAF Berlin im Rahmen des vom Bundesministerium für Bildung, Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend geförderten Projekts Bündnis „Gemeinsam gegen Sexismus“. Berücksichtigt wurden dabei neben Frauen und Männern ausdrücklich auch trans, inter und nicht-binäre Personen. Auf Grundlage der Studienergebnisse wurden konkrete Handlungsempfehlungen abgeleitet, wie staatliche Verantwortung, rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen und betriebliche Praxis stärker miteinander verzahnt werden können.
