In this We Belong Night, we want to discuss how municipal structures can be shaped with a critical perspective on racism – and the importance of transnational political networks like the European Coalition of Cities Against Racism (ECCAR) in this process.

In doing so, we will explore questions such as:

  • What measures are needed to effectively anchor anti-racism in local politics?
  • How can cities and municipalities learn from and benefit from one another?
  • What can we learn from the work of ECCAR and similar initiatives for our own anti-racist activism?
  • Where do we already see successful anti-racist practices in our own environments – and how can we highlight and share these examples?

Speaker

Evein Obulor (she/her) works to combat racism at various levels of our society. In her current role as coordinator of the European Coalition of Cities Against Racism, she addresses racial injustices at the municipal level and facilitates the exchange of anti-racism strategies among more than 150 European cities.
