"Many people experience degradation, harassment, and boundary violations in their everyday lives due to their gender, for example on the street, during leisure time, or in the workplace. These must finally be called what they are: forms of sexism," says City Councilor Kirsten Dinnebier. She adds that it is a collective task for society to combat all forms of sexism and sexual harassment and to provide effective support for those affected. With this action day, the city, in cooperation with the alliance, aims to address sexism in the workplace, sexism in public spaces and sexism in sports raise awareness and contribute to the societal debate on the topic.

With the Action Days Against Sexism, the "Together Against Sexism" alliance, founded in 2023 by Federal Minister for Women Lisa Paus, supports municipalities in addressing this issue intensively and sustainably at the local level. Municipalities that have joined the alliance can apply to host such an action day.

The "Together Against Sexism" alliance is funded by the BMFSFJ and implemented in partnership with EAF Berlin.
