Women's Networking Program

Conceptualization and support for a networking program at Bayer MaterialScience

Based on an EAF Berlin research and practice project regarding career opportunities and barriers for women in R&D within the chemical industry, the former Bayer subsidiary BMS identified various areas for action to increase the proportion of women in management positions. These measures were embedded in the company's People4LIFE strategy. At the initiative of the existing women managers' network, a development and networking program was launched specifically for female high-potential leaders. EAF Berlin provided conceptual support and coordination for the program.

The goal was to support female talent with potential for key roles at BMS and to foster exchange among female leaders and emerging leaders through individual tandem relationships. The overarching objective was to open up the corporate culture more effectively to diversity and to increase the number of women in leadership positions.

The networking program included personal exchanges between tandems, skill training for participants, as well as events and discussion rounds on topics such as flexible working models and fireside chats with high-profile leaders from the Bayer Group. Other managers, multipliers, and the participants' supervisors were involved, as were, in some cases, external experts and representatives from other companies. EAF Berlin successfully leveraged its network of experts and companies to support this.
