Gender and Diversity in Innovation Processes
Research on diversity-sensitive product development.
To what extent do men and women have different or shared expectations of products and services? Do usage contexts differ by gender or not? And are industrial research teams interested in diversity aspects?
The project "Gender and Diversity in Innovation Processes" addressed these questions. The project aimed to support participating companies by applying the latest insights from innovation management, diversity management, and gender research to develop ideas for new, target-group-oriented products and services. The project also explored the experiences and attitudes regarding gender and diversity within R&D departments.
As part of the project, the EAF conducted five organizational analyses and case studies in cooperation with research teams at Aesculap AG, Daimler AG, Deutsche Telekom AG, IBM Deutschland GmbH, and Porsche AG. These efforts included developing concepts for new mobile communication applications with female users, researching gender aspects in knee implants, and designing innovative vehicle concepts together with aspiring female engineers.
