We Belong Night

The "We belong — Network for Women with a Migration Background in Politics" at the Helene Weber-Kolleg invites you to a We Belong Night on January 25, 2024, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. This digital networking event for politically active women with a migration background will feature exclusive rhetoric training by Dilan Gökdemir-Tierbach on the topic: "Political Communication in Election Campaigns."

Dilan Gökdemir-Tierbach is a trained speech therapist and a certified communication and rhetoric coach. For over five years, she has been conducting training sessions and giving lectures on confident public speaking and expressive voice work. In addition to providing insights into communication strategies and positive self-presentation, the rhetoric training will include a practical session where all participants can actively apply what they have learned in a personalized way. Our goal is for all participants to leave the training feeling empowered and with a clearer vision for their political communication and public presence.

The We Belong Night is also an additional networking opportunity and a chance to connect and engage in conversation with other women in the network.

The fact is: women with a migration background are underrepresented at all levels of politics. As a result, the perspectives, lived realities, and needs of this group are missing from political discourse. We Belong is the starting point for a nationwide, non-partisan network that provides women with a migration background, BIPoC, or similar lived experiences with a safer space for empowerment, as well as the exchange of experience and knowledge in their political work. Another goal is to benefit from the experiences of other politically active women and to share ideas and best practices on how more women with a migration background can be represented at the local level and in parliaments. Our offerings are aimed at women with a migration background or similar lived experiences (BIPoC, etc.) who are involved in politics. By "women," we mean all individuals who identify as women. We are open to everyone who sees themselves as part of our target group, shares our understanding, and is interested in getting to know the network.
