Successful matching: digital vs. manual and the pros & cons

A cornerstone of successful mentoring programs is the matching of mentoring pairs. Traditionally, organizers match participants manually based on mentee and mentor profiles—often exclusively and by hand. Mentoring pairs also form during matching events, where mentees and mentors first get to know each other before deciding to partner up. Last but not least, an increasing number of mentoring programs are using software for digital matching. Digital support is essential, especially when a large number of mentoring pairs need to be matched. In this online event, DGM board member Simone Schönfeld (Cross Consult) will speak with two mentoring experts. Pavlo Stroblja (Queermentor) and Karin Heinzl (MentorMe) will share their experiences with both manual and digital matching.

Pavlo Stroblja founded Queermentor in 2021. Queermentor is the first 360° development program for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, covering all dimensions of diversity and supporting mentees in developing an "I am good as I am" mindset. As a non-profit organization, Queermentor supports individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community in their professional and personal development and advocates for equal opportunities in the job market.

Karin Heinzl is the founder of MentorMe, the largest mentoring program in the DACH region. MentorMe connects women seeking professional development with the working world through mentoring, training, and events. This helps them turn their jobs into callings while connecting companies with female talent. Thanks to its proprietary matching software, MentorMe has grown from 40 mentees in 2015 to over 6,000 mentees and mentors in 2024.
