Cafe Kyiv – On the Path to Equality

February 24 marks the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. To mark this sad and harrowing anniversary, Café Kyiv is taking place for the second time. Throughout the day, Café Kyiv will feature workshops, discussions, talks, salons, and cultural events. The focus is on freedom, Europe, security, and reconstruction. Through art, history, film, cuisine, and the creative scene, we want to rediscover Ukraine and hear its diverse voices.

On the Path to Equality – Challenges Under Wartime Conditions

EAF Berlin is organizing a panel discussion as part of this event. Ukrainian women are fighting on several fronts: they are serving in the armed forces, while women's organizations and initiatives are advocating for more women in politics and administration, initiating legal reforms, and providing practical assistance, including support for victims of domestic violence. How are these challenges being addressed at the local and regional levels? What progress or setbacks have occurred?

We will be discussing this with:

• Natalya Balasynovych, Mayor of Vasylkiv
• Kataryna Shunevych, Board Member of the feminist lawyers' association JurFem (Kyiv)
• Liliya Kisiltsyna, President of the women's umbrella organization SMARTA for the implementation of UN Resolution 1325, Women, Peace and Security (Kramatorsk, now Lviv)
• Dr. Yuliia Siedaia, Gender Expert (Kharkiv, now Tallinn)

The event will be moderated by Dr. Helga Lukoschat, Senior Advisor and Board Member of EAF Berlin.
