Be the Change. Women for Democracy
Politically active women frequently report experiencing (subtle) devaluation and exclusion within political discussion and debate culture. To sustainably support women in entering and remaining in local politics, it is essential to work together to actively develop solutions that promote respectful interaction, tolerance, constructive cooperation, and safety in everyday political life.
One such solution is the "Code of Conduct," which serves as a guideline or set of rules intended to ensure respectful and non-discriminatory interaction, for example, during council and committee meetings. A Code of Conduct helps establish standards that apply to everyone involved in daily political life. Some municipalities have already taken the step of reaching an agreement on the nature and form of communication in their day-to-day political business. Others are considering introducing a Code of Conduct. However, the latter often face the initial question: How?
The midterm event for the "Be the Change. Women for Democracy" project will approach this question from various perspectives.
