Regional Alliances for Equal Opportunity

The "Regional Alliances for Equal Opportunity" have established diversity as a key economic factor across the broader business landscape. Ten regions participated nationwide: the cities of Bautzen, Dülmen, Regensburg, Rostock, and Salzgitter, as well as the districts of Burgenlandkreis, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Lörrach, Unna, and Saarlouis.

A total of around 100 companies took part in the program across these ten regions, including municipal and private entities, as well as large and medium-sized enterprises from various sectors.

Regional networking within the alliances enabled collaboration between policymakers and local businesses to address support needs more quickly, exchange expertise, and increase the attractiveness of the region.

For the participating companies, the program offered the opportunity to receive expert support during the complex process of change toward having more women in leadership and to gain nationwide visibility as an attractive employer.

In a strategy workshop with EAF Berlin, the companies developed concrete goals and individual measures to increase the proportion of women in leadership over a three-year period. In doing so, they not only drove cultural change within their organizations but also acted as pioneers for the "Act for the Equal Participation of Women and Men in Leadership Positions in the Private and Public Sector," which was passed in 2015.
