Advancing Women
European Mentoring Program for Women at the Start of Their Careers
The proven mentoring partnership between Soroptimist International Germany and EAF Berlin was expanded to a European level in 2010 and successfully conducted twice with SI partner organizations from Sweden, Belgium, and Luxembourg. In total, over 50 women participated in the program. The international exchange and networking opportunities were considered highly valuable, as was the access to Soroptimist International, the world's largest service and networking organization for professional women. The program aimed to support women in their professional and personal development and to strengthen their willingness to take on social and civic responsibility.
Advancing Women combined several months of professional mentoring in the respective countries with joint training seminars on topics such as self-management, communication techniques, and career planning. The seminars were led by internationally active trainers and experts.
The mentees were professional women with approximately 3 to 5 years of work experience who were on the path to leadership positions. Participants had the opportunity to benefit from the experience of their mentors through a personal development relationship. Soroptimists from the four countries volunteered as mentors. They all possessed many years of leadership experience in sectors including business, government ministries, public administration, and the media. EAF Berlin was responsible for the overall coordination and conceptual design.
