Mentoring D
Promoting diversity-oriented human resources policy
The core of the project was a mentoring and consulting program designed to promote a human resources policy focused on diversity and equal opportunity. Around 30 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from technology- and research-intensive sectors in Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony, and Thuringia were able to specifically qualify a female junior employee for a leadership position as part of the mentoring program. In addition, the companies received HR-related insights through customized consulting. Workshops with managers addressed the topics of work-life balance, women in leadership positions, and employer attractiveness from gender and diversity perspectives.
To support the project, the communications agency KOMPAKTMEDIEN developed the nationwide online platform www.mentoring-d.de. It provided comprehensive information on mentoring as well as an equality check developed by EAF Berlin. Furthermore, the project successfully fostered the exchange of knowledge and experience within a nationwide network of mentoring initiatives. This led to the founding of the German Mentoring Association (DGM) in May 2012—an important step toward quality assurance, dissemination, and the further development of mentoring.
