It's our Turn

Under the title "Politics needs diversity. Politics needs you!", EAF Berlin hosted the "IT'S OUR TURN" workshop series for girls and young women with and without refugee backgrounds. The six-day workshop focused on the topics of participation and diversity in politics.

Each time, 20 committed young women from across Germany were given the opportunity to actively explore the political facets of the nation's capital, Berlin. Half of the places were reserved for young women and girls with refugee backgrounds. We want to encourage the participants to get involved and advocate for their interests. Through these workshops, we took the opportunity to promote the importance of political participation in Germany. The participants had the chance to build networks together and learn with and from one another in a diverse group. Through various training sessions, including a focus on presentation techniques and managing diversity, the young women identified and developed their own strengths. Furthermore, the participants shadowed a Member of the Bundestag for a day and discussed the success factors of their careers with politically active women and men.

The workshop series was funded in 2016 by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ).
