Portrait series on women in local politics
As part of the "Frauen Macht Kommune" campaign to increase the number of women in local politics, the idea was born to create an illustrative and practical brochure featuring portraits of successful local female politicians. Nine dedicated women in various offices and roles were showcased. The politicians shared authentic accounts of their personal career paths and experiences, their responsibilities, and the challenges they face. A key focus was on honorary local government positions, aiming to promote them as an attractive field for civic engagement. The women featured offered great potential for identification and were as diverse in terms of age, family situation, and personal background as they were in the municipalities and regions where they served. These ranged from the far north, with a CDU district administrator in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, to the deep south, with a local councilor from the Free Voters in the Lake Constance district.
The brochure was widely distributed and received very positive feedback. The success of the publication, which is still frequently used today in EAF Berlin's activities to promote women's participation in (local) politics, was due in no small part to the striking photographs that presented the women in their local spheres of influence and personal environments.
