We Belong Night: "The Power of Networks: Making Politics Diverse Together"
Reem Alabali-Radovan has served as the Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees, and Integration since 2021 and as the Federal Government Commissioner for Anti-Racism since 2022. Together, we will discuss how to get started in politics, her work as a Minister of State and Anti-Racism Commissioner, and the role that networks play.
Following an introduction by EAF Berlin and a conversation with Reem Alabali-Radovan, you will have the opportunity to ask questions. The We Belong Nights are designed to provide a safe space where you can connect with each other and our guest in an exclusive, relaxed atmosphere. Please feel free to bring your own questions and topics to the table. We look forward to a cross-party discussion!

More about the We Belong network
The fact is: women with a migration background are underrepresented at all levels of politics. As a result, the perspectives, lived realities, and needs of this group are missing from political discourse. We want to change that, and with the "We Belong" network, we are creating a space to do so. Our mission:
- A nationwide, non-partisan network that provides a safe space for women with a migration background, BIPoC, or similar lived experiences to find empowerment and exchange knowledge and experience in their political engagement.
- Another goal is to benefit from the experiences of other politically active women and to exchange ideas and best practices on how more women with a migration background can be represented at the local level and in parliaments.
- Interactive formats provide space for exchange and networking.
Who is the network for?
Our offerings are aimed at women with a migration background or similar lived experiences (BIPoC, immigrant background, etc.) who are involved in politics. By women, we mean all individuals who identify as women. We are open to anyone who sees themselves as part of our target group, shares our understanding, and is interested in getting to know the network.
More about the Helene Weber Kolleg
Women in all their diversity are underrepresented in politics, especially in parliaments and local councils. The goal of the Helene Weber Kolleg (HWK) is to change that. As the first nationwide, cross-party platform for local female politicians, it offers various exchange and networking formats, as well as information to support women in entering and advancing in politics. A key focus is on an intersectional perspective. The specific hurdles faced by women with a migration background and how to overcome them were highlighted through the HWK mentoring program "Mein Hintergrund? Ich will in den Vordergrund" (My background? I want to be in the foreground) for women with a migration background in politics (2019 to 2021). The "We Belong — Network for Women with a Migration Background in Politics" emerged from this program. It is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and implemented by EAF Berlin.
