Not alone against the headwind

The digital workshop on February 26, 2026, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, as part of the 3R - Recognize, Resist, Rise Up project, decodes the subtle forms of power dynamics in politics and shifts the focus from the conventional understanding of exercising power over others toward collaborative creation.

Recognizing power plays, living solidarity, and providing active support

Attacks and power plays are part of everyday political life—whether overt or covert, they are unfortunately always effective. Interruptions, belittlement, and feigned offers of help: they change who is perceived as strong, decisive, and worthy of being taken seriously—often without anyone ever calling it out.

For many women in politics, the consequences are often insecurity and withdrawal. Effective counter-strategies for the political participation of marginalized groups can include increasing visibility, building solidarity, and finding allies.

This digital workshop demonstrates how patterns of power plays work and how to parry them. There will also be space to reflect on personal understandings of power, anti-feminist trends, and how we can collectively stand up to hostility. A practical example will show how shared political goals can be achieved, even across party lines.

The event is part of the 3R: Recognize, Resist, Rise Up project by EAF Berlin. It is aimed at female politicians, officeholders, and mandate holders, as well as those who are politically active or interested in better identifying displays of power in politics and becoming more capable of taking action together with others.

The focus will be on the following questions:

  • How do power plays function in politics—and how can they be identified and countered?
  • How can solidarity (e.g., among women) be put into practice and become politically effective?
  • What role do allyship (standing up for one another) and active bystander intervention play when I witness hostility directed at others?

The event offers insights and concrete starting points for anyone who wants to make political spaces more solidary, safer, and more democratic.

More about the 3R project

3R: Recognize, Resist, Rise Up is a project by EAF Berlin designed to support women in politics in dealing with hate, hostility, and anti-democratic attacks. The goal is to empower those affected, expand their scope of action, and highlight counter-strategies.

The project is funded by the European Commission and the Federal Ministry for Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ).
