Hit the target - more women in leadership

On 1 May 2015, the Equal Participation of Women and Men in Leadership Positions in the Private and Public Sector Act came into force in Germany. In the medium-term, it should contribute to significantly improving the proportion of women in leadership positions and initiate a cultural change in enterprises. However, a new culture will not happen overnight. To bring more women into leading positions requires above all a strategic concept and the resolute will of boards of management and top management to implement the required change processes.

Therefore, in the context of the program “Hit the Target – More Women in Leadership“, by the summer of 2017, together with enterprises, innovative approaches and instruments for more women in managerial positions are being developed and advice provided to enterprises in setting the targets. The goal of the program is not least to promote the dialogue between politics and the economy as well as to provide feedback on the legislation from the implementation process.

The program encompasses three objectives:

• A practical guide quickly and comprehensively provides information on the law, supports the development and implementation of individual business target figures and presents concrete action areas as well as best practices.
• In the workshop series “B2B“ enterprises affected by the legislation come together to exchange views on the topics of setting targets, supporting measurements, communication and change management.
• A top-level advisory board with representatives from politics, the economy and associations support the program with constructive criticism.
